fedora 20: start-up hangs after trying to install nvidia video card

i remember trying to install my nvidia geforce 625m video card on my dell 3421 early this year, and failing. yesterday, i tried running the installer again (and other nvidia drivers) but resulted to my fedora hanging after "manage, install and generate color profiles".

solution was to totally remove all nvidia installations on my box.
you can go ctrl + f2 for a command shell, then

# yum remove *nvidia*

and then reboot.
