qmail: adjust maximum recipient limit

do you get a "Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. 550 5.7.0 Maximum Recipient Limit Exceeded" message when sending email to a large number of recipients?


here's how to adjust maximum recipient limit:
1. edit tcp.smtp
# vi /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp
look for CHKUSER_RCPTLIMIT="25"
this setting has a 25 maximum recipient limit. adjust as you prefer


2. apply your preferred maximum recipient limit
# tcprules /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp.cdb /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp.tmp < /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp


i had mine set to not more than a hundred recipients to prevent users from spam-sending
